One day a week, start cutting out the meat.
Launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2011, the Triangle Meatless Monday (TMM) campaign is part of an international initiative to encourage healthier and sustainable eating, one step at a time. By eliminating animal products (meat, dairy, eggs) one day a week (or working up to more) individuals can create positive changes in their health, the environment, and for animals.
On June 13, 2011, the city and county of Durham, NC officially proclaimed Mondays as Meatless Mondays thanks to the Triangle Meatless Monday initiative. We continue to educate the communities in the Triangle about the benefits of going meatless and to serve as a resource to those that have pledged to go meatless at least one day per week. Since our inception, we have over 1,300 pledges and a growing list of local participating restaurants.
