Detailed Oriented Teacher/Advisor for Humanities and College Prep. Tutoring specialties in History, English, Math, Reading, Writing, Test Prep &Special Ed.
I am a multi-disciplinarian, highly qualified teacher of history, social studies, English, civics, lower level math, and geometry. I currently work at DeVry University advising students on financial aid and academics. I am a strong advocate for using current technology to help foster our students’ love of learning. In my career I have used everything from personal laptops, to SMART technology, to IPads to help grow new concepts and ideas. I have a strong special education background, and while I do not believe every child should be taught the same way, I do strongly believe that every student can succeed. I have developed new curriculum for school districts, helped students write admission essays to college, and coached numerous sports and activities on a pre-professional level and volunteer level. I am well versed on different “testing” methods across the board including standardized testing, ACT/SAT testing, and special education evaluations.
On a personal note, I have an Associate’s degree from William Rainey Harper College. A Bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University, where I graduated with honors. And a Master’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University. I love to do volunteer work with local community groups. I am very flexible, patient, and an excellent communicator. I look forward to working with you and your student.
