Twin Lakes Insurance Agency was established in Lee's Summit, Missouri in 1983.

Twin Lakes Insurance is a family-owned and managed Independent Insurance Agency located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The agency began business in 1983 as a start-up scratch Property and Casualty Insurance Agency. The agency founders were John M. Smith and son, Michael B. Smith. The Smith family’s experience in the Insurance Industry extends back to 1945 and now spans four generations. Mr. R.O. Adams of Independence, Missouri introduced his son-in-law, John M. Smith, to the business in 1960. The insurance career of the senior Smith continued until he retired from the business in December of 1995. Upon his retirement, he decided to pursue public service in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, the community he had resided in much of his adult life. The community work culminated in service as a Lee’s Summit City Councilman from 1995 to 2000. Mr. Michael B. Smith, also a life-long resident of Lee’s Summit Missouri assumed the position of Corporate President in December 1995. He has continued in this position and is assisted by fellow family members Mark A. Smith, Corporate Vice-President and Tim S. Seiler, Corporate Secretary/Treasurer.
