We strive to respond to the leisure needs and desires of the Yorkville community.

The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department is a municipal department under the jurisdiction of the United City of Yorkville. As a result, there is no separate tax levied to fund the cost of operations for programs, facilities, or parks. The department is under the direction of the Park Board, an advisory board that was created to provide direction, management, and recommendations for the needs and desires for parks and recreational services.

The United City of Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department provides recreational programs and classes for children, teens, and adults serving the needs of 17,000 community residents. In addition, the department is responsible for the development and maintenance of over 40 theme parks and playgrounds throughout the city.
Parks and Recreation also oversees the operation and maintenance of the REC Center, a 38,000 sq. ft. full-service fitness and recreation facility leased by the city. The facility houses an indoor track, lap pool, whirlpool, open gym, and cardio and resistance equipment including Life Fitness recumbent bikes, upright bikes, cross trainers, treadmills, steppers, Precor equipment, Keiser spin bikes and Body Master equipment. All residents of the Yorkville community along with nonresidents are welcome to join. A variety of membership options are available for varying lengths of time and fees.
In addition to the many classes and programs offered through Yorkville Parks and Recreation, the department also manages Parker's Playtime Preschool, basketball and soccer leagues, outdoor movies, Music Under the Stars, the city's annual Hometown Days festival in September, and much more!
