University of the West is a Buddhist-founded campus located in Rosemead, California, about 10 minutes by car from downtown Los Angeles. The UWest campus is open to students of all faiths (or no faith) and is attended by a diverse student body.
Sitting on 11 lovely acres overlooking the Whittier Narrows Nature Preserve and the San Gabriel River, with the dramatic San Bernardino Mountains as backdrop, UWest is a quite oasis of learning and community in an otherwise urban setting. It features two Residence Halls, a spacious cafeteria, recreation hall, Library, auditorium, swimming pool, gym, basketball court, meditation room, computer labs, and 35 classrooms outfitted with SMART board technology. The campus is wireless and modern in most aspects. Students come from all over the world, approximately 60% of enrollment in 2011 was international students.
