OUR HISTORY:
The Utica Tower, a 24-foot-by-125-foot sign, serves as a landmark for visitors, travelers and area residents. The open-steel structured tower spells out U-T-I-C-A with 7-foot bright red lights. It is visible from the New York State Thruway, Routes 8 and 12, and major state routes, including Routes 49, 69, 5 and 5-S. The LED Lighting on the tower profile and windows are able to change color for any occasion.
The Utica Tower was conceived and fully funded by Utica native Frank Giotto, President of Giotto Enterprises, consisting of ten companies, the first and largest being Fiber Instrument sales, founded in 1985 in Oriskany. Like the former city hall clock tower, the Utica Tower is a beacon of pride of our rich history and vision for a bright future for our region. The tower highlights Utica from many vantage points for travelers as they approach our area. It is a conspicuous announcement that Utica is open for business and welcomes visitors and businesses to come to our area.
Giotto said, “I am proud to be a Utica native and want to draw attention to the fact that those of us who invested in this area are making our presence felt regionally, nationally and internationally. This tower symbolizes that the Utica-area business community is vibrant and growing.”
WE HELP KIDS! In 2015 the Utica Landmark Tower Corporation (Foundation) will be accepting applications from community leaders to provide small grants or gifts to underprivileged children in Utica and the Mohawk Valley. Applications will be reviewed and approved WEEKLY year round.
