Our program aims to provide competitive and athletic opportunities to students with and without disabilities by using adapted equipment.
UW-Whitewater Wheelchair Athletics exists since 1973. Our program includes a men's and a women's intercollegiate wheelchair basketball team competing at the highest level and featuring many current, past and future Paralympic athletes and coaches.
In addition, we aim to provide opportunities to all by offering an Intramural Wheelchair Basketball and an Intramural Wheelchair Football program. Our facilities include a fully adapted weight room, many basketball chairs and hand-cycles, a multipurpose gym and much more provided by the university.
During the summer, we host a camp for wheelchair basketball athletes or prospects at the age of 8-18 to provide them with four days of instructed opportunities to learn and play the sport they love or want to get to know.
We also founded Cornerstones for Success, which is a unique program that dispels myths about people who have a disability and shows students at any age how they can be successful in and out of the classroom and overcome any type of obstacle. If you would like to know more about how this works and how you can get us to your school, youth group or university, please check out our website or contact us via phone or email.
