Varnell Pictures is an Independent film company that produces short films and comedy sketches.
Created by local Dallas filmmaker Bryant Varnell, Varnell Pictures has been making short films since 2004.
Bryant along with Ethan Jasperson, Dillon Morrissette and several other friends created Obi City Entertainment to produce comedy shorts. It was around that time that Bryant wanted to start producing work outside of sketch comedy and also help work with other filmmakers.
Varnell Pictures first stand alone short was the 2010 Acoustic Kid. Then that same year they helped with the production of the short film Apology written and directed by Charlie Vann, and also Something in the Red which was written and directed by James G. Warde.
Producing some more short films from 2011, Bryant once again teamed up with fellow Obi Citizen Ethan Jasperson along with Charlie Vann and James Warde to make the short film Snuff. This also brought back Obi City Entertainment.
From there Varnell Pictures began producing more and more shorts, growing its stock company more and more.
In 2012 another Obi Citizen Dillon Morrissette joined the stock company for the film Friends of Earth.
Since 2009 Varnell Pictures has had 8 of its films shown in theaters. Winning 3rd place at the 2009 24 hr Dallas Video Race.
