Venice Beach Dodgeball Saturdays - (323) 919-9998

Co-ed Beach Dodgeball every saturday from 1pm until 4pm!!!

It's the beach...it's dodgeball...what more could you ask for? Anyone is welcome, guys, girls, 18 and up.

Come out and throw balls with us!!! Spend Saturdays at the beach playing the game you knew as a kid (only it'll be less traumatic this time around).

One block north of the Venice Pier at Washington Blvd. From 12:00pm until 3:00pm. We tend to socialize over food and drinks after the games.

Cost is $3.00 per person for hours of fun with a great group of people.

Parking - Street parking anywhere between Venice and Washington Blvds. Or lots are about $10. Early birds get the worms (street spots).

The Game - We’ll play open style friendly games with as many as 12v12 on the court (we can have multiple courts going). We may also play some mini games like President, Doctor, etc.

Balls - We will play with 7-inch and 8-inch Gator Skin foam filled balls (no-sting) - these are the best foam balls we’ve found on the market for anyone to throw and catch

Rules - Rules are listed below. Baically, standard stuff from grade school. We’ll teach you any of the new stuff like headshots and deflections. Need a refresher? Head to www.DodgeballRevolution.com for more information.

Beginning The Game:
Teams begin play behind their team's endline.

The game begins with an Opening Rush where you run from your endline to the middle line to retrieve the balls. Balls must be "cleared" or brought back 3/4 of the way on your side of the court before you can throw at an opposing player. Diving on the rush is not permitted - this is for the safety of everyone on the court.

Outs
1. A player is out when a live ball hits any part of a player's body or clothing

2. A player is out if they are hit by a live ball rebounding off another player or blocking ball

3. A player is out if an opposing player catches the ball. The thrower is out and the catcher's team brings one player from the front of the "out" queue back into the game.

Blocking
You may use a ball as a "blocker," however if a thrown ball causes you to lose control and drop your ball, you are out.
Also, any thrown ball deflecting off of your blocking ball into yourself or a teammate will result in you or your teammate being out

Out of Bounds
1. At no time can any part of your body cross the center line into the opponent's side. For example, if your foot crosses the center line you are out.

2. Players must remain inside the designated court lines unless retrieving balls

3. Catches must be made with 2 feet inside the designated court lines for the catch to be good. However, your momentum can carry you out of bounds but the catch must have been made with both feet in for it to be good.

4. You cannot be called out if you are out of bounds and retrieving a ball from the sidelines or behind the ball stop net. However, if you are retrieving a ball just behind your end line and in front of the ball stop net you can still be hit with a ball and called out.

Headshots
If you are hit in the head by a high thrown ball you are not out. However if 3 or more points of your body are touching the ground and you are hit in the head you are out. Points of the body are feet, hands, elbows, butt, head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes, etc.

Dead Balls
A ball is no longer live and therefore dead if it a) touches the ground, b) collides with another ball, or c) hits a player directly in the head/face.

Suicides
A player may legally take a running leap from their side of the court into the opposing team's court, releasing the ball before their feet touch the ground, in an attempt to get an opposing player out. The leaping player is out when they touch the ground on the opposing side.
