The Scoop:

Brought to you by the creators of The Depot Coffee House and Bistro & Chef Stuart Gates, Vicki's on Walnut will assume the space formerly occupied by Walnut Circle Grill, and will plan to open this July. We will focus on being a dinner-only establishment featuring eclectic, yet approachable southern cuisine. We hope to strike a balance of small plates and entrees, while keeping the atmosphere tasteful, yet comfortable.

Who's Vicki?
Chef Stuart Gates is proud to honor his mother & Hattiesburg humanitarian Vicki Gates by bestowing his newest venture in her namesake. Vicki is not only a mother to her biological family, but through her devotion as a teacher/tutor/volunteer has become a mother figure to many in in Hub City. We found it only fitting to name this restaurant after such a remarkable woman.

You May Be Wondering:

No! We do not intend on having an adjective-laden, pretentious menu. Southern cuisine is just fine as it is, and we intend on creatively emphasizing that, not reinventing it.

Yes! We will continue "tapas night" on Thursday, and can't wait to create small plates each Thursday that embody our culinary perspective. There will always be something new on the menu at Vicki's.

Yes! Vicki's will offer customized catering to "The Walnut Room" across the street, and can't wait to tailor a menu for your next special event.

Yes! You can book parties in The Walnut Room when ready- please contact James Benge at 601-818-2287

Yes! You will see several familiar faces from Walnut's past on our staff that have helped bring life to this beautiful space.

Yes! Why yes, we did happen to convince our good friend (and winner of Master Chef Season 1) Whitney Miller, to be our consulting pastry chef (so skipping dessert will never be an option at Vicki's).

Yes! Once dinner is stream-lined we will look into developing a lunch menu as well.

We can't wait to re-launch such a beautiful space, that we can only assume due to the groundwork laid by the McElroy family. We consider them pioneers of what is now downtown Hattiesburg, and are humbled to continue the legacy of such an immaculate venue. Cheers to the McElroys!
