Virginia German Shepherd Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of the German Shepherd Dog.
Our foster dogs are well taken care of while they are in rescue, receiving love, attention and necessary medical care. Often, this is the first opportunity our dogs have had to love and be loved. Our foster parents spend significant time and effort socializing the dogs and working to bring out the best in our canine family. Unless there are age or health limitations, our foster dogs receive their basic immunizations, are microchipped and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We look forward to a day when our work will be done but until then, and with your support, we will continue to serve our wonderful German Shepherd breed, in the best way possible.
While our foster dogs are with us, they stay with our dedicated foster families, enabling our volunteers to get to know them and evaluate each dog individually. This enables us to match each dog with the best possible home. Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure that they can not only provide a safe and loving home for a German Shepherd but also meet the unique needs of each foster dog. We believe that any dog should become a cherished member of its new family. We also want to ensure that the new home will be a permanent one, because many of the dogs are traumatized when they are abandoned by their owners.
