Walnut Creek Chabad

Chabad of Walnut Creek was founded in 2003 to address the needs of a small burgeoning Jewish community on the border of Hollywood and Pembroke Pines.

Chabad of Walnut Creek was founded in 2003 to address the needs of a small burgeoning Jewish community on the border of Hollywood and Pembroke Pines. Viewed as an idyllic place to raise a family, many Jews began to move to the area and there became a need for a Synagogue to service their religious and communal needs. The Walnut Creek Jewish families began to convene in a converted garage with no formal leadership and little more interaction other than a weekly Shabbat gathering.
In an effort to take their community to the next level the families contacted the Hollywood Community Synagogue, who found volunteers to help guide the community. After a year of part time Rabbis and a fledgling weekend Minyan, Rabbi Zalman and Shana Korf moved in and founded Chabad of Walnut Creek. Under their guidance Chabad of Walnut Creek has grown exponentially into a thriving synagogue and Jewish community center with over 75 member families. Blessed with gracious lay-leaders, they moved out of the garage and into a newly renovated Chabad House that serves as the Synagogue, Rabbi’s office, Jewish library and children’s recreation area.Based on the international Chabad model, Rabbi Korf takes Judaism out of the synagogue and into the real world by involving local residents in Jewish life cycle events throughout the year, making them aware of their precious identity as a member of the tribe.
Chabad of Walnut Creek was founded on the principal of “Love your fellow as you love yourself”, caring for their physical as well as their spiritual wellbeing, they have been successful in instilling Jewish pride to all they encounter. All the work of Chabad of Walnut creek is intended to bring the coming of Moshiach, speedily in our days.
