Our Background:
We opened as a food pantry on May 2nd, 2009 and presently serve more than 500
families in the area with food assistance on a monthly basis.
We follow the income eligibility guidelines set by the Federal Department of Health
and Family Services through their Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
We obtain food for the pantry in several ways, including:
From the United States Department of Agriculture, the distributing agency
for the TEFAP, and locally by Community Action.
Purchased at regular and reduced prices from
– Private food distributors
– FEEDING AMERICA (formerly named America’s Second Harvest),
which is a member of the Nation’s Food Bank Network
Donations of food and/or money, from individuals or groups within the
greater community who wish to donate. All money donated goes directly
toward the purchase of food to stock the Pantry. The operating expenses
of the Pantry are covered by funds from a private foundation.
We are staffed entirely by volunteers from within the greater Walworth community.
We are currently open Wednesday 1 - 5 PM and Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM.
We welcome participation from community organizations and churches to
increase the scope of our operation, volunteer pool and financial resources.
