According to the 2009 Wisconsin Taxpayer's Alliance Municipal Facts guide, there were 57 communities in Wisconsin with population of 7,500-15,000 that have police departments. Of those, Waunakee ranked 56th in per capita police spending. The avarage spending per capita on police for the group was $227, while Waunakee was $150 (33% less than average.)

Crimes Solved
Along with our low costs for police service, our department solves far more crimes on average than other law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin. Law Enforcement in Wisconsin, on average, solves approximately 27% of all uniform crimes reported (UCR) to respective departments.
