AmeriCoprs VISTA volunteers create and expand programs that build capacity and ultimately bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. Our VISTAs work behind the scenes to develop, execute, and sustain school and community based programs. Some of the projects our volunteers are currently working on include developing after school programs, facilitating parent workshops, providing Snack in a Packs to 315+ low income students, and managing district volunteers.
Our AmeriCorps Tutoring Program has volunteers are placed throughout the district within individual schools to provide direct service to our students. They conduct one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to students during the school day at their service sites. Afterschool our volunteers come together to assist in running Club TIGER activities and clubs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Some of the clubs that have been created by our AmeriCorps volunteers include archery, ultimate sports, reading counts, sign language, and comedy, just to name a few!
