The "Wee Faerie Village" will be presented at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT, from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1, 2015.
Nearly three-dozen imaginative wee faerie castles, towers, or palaces, will be installed throughout the Museum’s 11 acres of gardens and grounds. "Whimsical Kingdoms" will feature nearly three dozen faerie-scaled castles, towers, and palaces on the Museum’s campus that celebrate fiction’s greatest princes and princesses in a new and imaginative way. The dwellings will be designed by a team of artists, sculptors, architects, landscapers, interior designers, and others, the collection of captivating miniature dwelling is sure to delight young and old alike. Museum visitors will follow the landscape trail around the grounds with the help of a "Alice's Wander Guide to Wonderland" that will provide printed information about each wee faerie dwelling. The keepsake brochure will feature original art by illustrator Aaron B. Miller as well as fun and informative activities for families relating to landscape painting to be enjoyed both at the Museum and at home.
The Museum will offer a host of faerie and landscape painting-related programming throughout the month including hands-on art-making Sundays, scavenger hunts, a day-long Halloween party with costume parade, and more.
EXTENDED HOURS
During the run of the Wee Faerie Village, the Museum will be open everyday, including the traditionally closed Mondays. Columbus Day Monday tends to be one of the most heavily visited days and the Museum will offer special hands-on programming to encourage visitation on Mondays. In addition, the Museum will also open two-hours earlier on Sundays and be available for families from 11am until 5pm.
