"Night Unto Night Showeth Knowledge." - Inscription on the interior of the dome of the 12" Alvan & Clark refractor at Whitin Observatory
Our Department resides in the beautiful and historic Whitin Observatory, situated on the eastern side of Wellesley College's campus. Our students and faculty use our two Alvan and Clark refractors (12" and 6") and our 24" Boller and Chivens reflector for laboratories and research, alongside a fleet of 8" Meade reflectors. We offer a variety of classes and are proud to host monthly Whitin Nights to introduce our community to our beautiful home and our beautiful night sky. Cloudy or clear, there is always something to learn about astronomy.
This page is a space for friends of the Observatory, alumnae, and anyone with questions to get in touch with each other and with us.
