Wholesales potable water to 17 cities and unincorporated areas in coastal L.A. County. Provides recycled wastewater to more than 350 customers throughout the South Bay from an award-winning facility in El Segundo. West Basin is the only agency to produce 5 different types of recycled water. It has an innovative ocean-water desalination demonstration facility in Redondo Beach that is testing environmentally responsible technology and energy recovery and optimizing operations. The Water Education Center, adjacent the desalination facility showcases where Southern California's water comes from, illustrates the importance of conservation and water use efficiency, highlights recycled water customers and explains the ocean-water desalination processes that West Basin is testing. Provides field trips for local school districts to Recycling and Desalination facilities for 3rd thru 12th grade classes within the West Basin service area and offers FREE public tours of both facilities.
West Basin is led by a 5-member, elected Board of Directors and is committed to Water Reliability, Water Quality, Sound Financial and Resource Management, Customer Service, and Environmental Stewardship.
