Based in Princeton, New Jersey at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, the Westminster Center for Critical Pedagogy seeks to foster collaboration between student and teacher to nurture and empower the musician within. The center collaborates with the music education department at Westminster to encourage new research in music education, to reconsider traditional educational practices, and to give voice to those traditionally marginalized in music education. The Westminster Center for Critical Pedagogy offers an online certificate in Critical Pedagogy after the completion of 4 online courses through Westminster Continuing Education (www.rider.edu/woce). In addition, the center oversees the publication of Visions of Research in Music Education (http://users.rider.edu/~vrme/), a peer-reviewed periodical which focuses on contemporary research in music education as well as historical reprints of seminal work.
