Pastor Harold E. Clay, Th.D.
Our History
Wheeling Avenue Church of the Nazarene began as a country church over 50 years ago. The vision for the church began in 1959 and early in 1960 the congregation began worshipping in the current parsonage garage, which at that time was one mile from town.
Rev. Melvin Taylor (our first pastor), along with the 18 charter members prayed, believed and gave support for the success of the church. After a few short months of sacrifice the first unit of our facility was constructed in 1960.
The land was purchased from a local veterinarian. While worshipping in the first unit (now our fellowship hall), money was raised and a loan secured to construct our current facility in 1971.
A small house was also purchased next to the church making our entire property in excess of five acres. Many renovations and improvements have been done since that time and we thank God for the pastors and people who have given to us what we have today.
