The Wilbur D. May Center is a museum, arboretum, and botanical garden.

Nestled within Rancho San Rafael Regional Park you'll find the Wilbur D. May Center -- a year-round destination for people of all ages!

The museum highlights the adventurous life of Wilbur May. The gallery features an amazing collection of artifacts from 40+ trips around the world. You'll find many exotic and rare treasures, including a shrunken head! You can also learn about Wilbur's 2,600-acre Double Diamond Ranch in South Reno, famous for its Black Angus cattle and race horses. Get a glimpse into the big game hunting years of the 1930s and '40s in the trophy room which features a stunning collection of taxidermy.

The arboretum and botanical garden feature thousands of flowers and trees from around the world, along with rock gardens, waterfalls, gazebos, wetlands, and ponds. Keep your eyes open for the many resident squirrels, rabbits, and birds. Self-guided tour maps are available, and horticulturists are around to answer questions!

The Wilbur D. May Center also hosts a number of special events throughout the year, including art classes and shows, lectures, tours, musical performances, and holiday events.
