For the Students, By the Students
The Willard Straight Hall Student Union Board is an organization of and for the Cornell University student body and serves as the governing body of the Willard Straight Hall, Ho Plaza, and the Slope. In the spirit of the Willard Straight Hall Student Union building, we seek to enrich the Cornell community through the administration of the Student Union and the programming of events that are responsive to the needs of the community.
Section I. Programming Mission Statement
To further Willard Straight Hall’s mission by developing the Student Union as a space for students to freely exchange ideas, culture, and the arts in a manner that encourages social enrichment and interaction through a diverse array of programming.
Section II. Administration and Operations Mission Statement
To establish and oversee the administration of the Willard Straight Hall building policy and Ho Plaza and Slope regulations through reviews and hearings on policy violations, management of the approval of exemptions to building policy, including those for space reservations and late-night events, the allocation of student organization office space in Willard Straight Hall, and execution of appropriate changes and additions to building policy and regulations.
Section III. Funding Mission Statement
To enhance the role of the student union building as the center of culture and entertainment on campus by encouraging the use of Willard Straight Hall, Ho Plaza, and the Slope as viable spaces for programming through financial and material assistance and resources to organizations programming or seeking to program in these spaces.
