The Wilmington Fire Department (WFD) serves Delaware's largest city.

The WFD is a Career Fire Department staffed with 172 employees. The FD operates 6 Engine Companies, 2 of which operate as Squad Companies, 2 Ladder Companies and 2 Battalion Chiefs who commad 1 of the 2 geographical Fire Districts. The Sppression Division works on a 24/72 shift schedule which is staffed by 40 members on each of the 4 platoons. The WFD has a Marine unit which is staffed by a Lieutenant and Firefighter and assisted by Engine Company 2. The Fire Prevention division handles all Public Eduaction, Code Enforcement and Fire/Arson Investigations. The Fire Marshal's Office is a certified law enforcement agency.
