Winnebago County CASA - (815) 319-6880

Winnebago County CASA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system.

CASA refers to a Court Appointed Special Advocate
A CASA volunteer is a trained community member who is appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children who are brought before the court.

Currently in Winnebago County, approximately 120 volunteers work on more than 300 juvenile court cases. Yet, an estimated 900 children reside in foster care, while as many as 400 abused or neglected children are brought before the Winnebago County Juvenile Court each year. Because many children today need a stronger voice in court, the Juvenile Court Judge looks to CASA to significantly increase its number of trained volunteers.
