"Conserving Our Land Today for Tomorrow"

The Winnebago County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a locally operated unit of government functioning under Illinois law for the purpose of promoting the protection, maintenance, improvement and wise use of the soil, water, and related resources.

The Winnebago County SWCD provides technical assistance to individuals and groups regarding the wise use of our soil and water resources. District employees complete Natural Resource Information reports for properties that are slated for zoning changes, complete soil borings for analysis of septic suitability in cooperation with the county health department, and provide assistance with both IDOA and USDA conservation programs.
