The Winston-Salem Transit Authority is the transportation provider for the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Serving the residents of Winston-Salem since 1972 as the sole public tranit system, WSTA's goal then and now is to offer safe, reliable and economical transportation services to our passengers. We also have a paratransit service, Trans-AID, which fills the need for public transit services for individuals who have disabilities, and/or who are elderly and unable to use our fixed-route bus system.
WSTA operates 26 routes throughout Winston-Salem during the day and 7 night routes weekly from the Clark Campbell Transportation Center in downtown Winston-Salem.Transporting around 10,000 passengers daily, our priority is safety and offering quality customer service is our goal. Our passengers with disabilities board our buses with ease and convenience on our low-floor Gillig hybrids or on one of our Nova diesel-engine vehicles. All fixed-route vehicles have the ability to kneel, or lower closer to the ground to make it easier to get on and/or off the bus. Passengers should just ask the operator to lower the bus if they feel they cannot safely and easily board. Our fixed-route fleet is equipped with bicycle racks, enabling passengers to bring their bikes along on the bus. While on the bus, our automated announcements will keep you informed on route details, and WSTA policies. WSTA hybrids are equipped with GPS systems, allowing the bus to tell passengers where they are along the route.
