Winter Park is a mountain town of 662 (2000) and home of Winter Park/ Mary Jane Resort. Winter Park has the highest city limits of any municipality in the United States. In 1927, the Moffat Tunnel was bored through the Continental Divide and its west portal reached Winter Park. This vastly reduced the travel time across the ridge and made the town conveniently accessible from Denver. Along with world class skiing, Winter Park also has excellent horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking opportunities in the Grand Lake area.
