The Facebook home of Winterville First Baptist Church in Winterville, GA!
As a result of a revival in Moore's Grove Baptist Church, the Winterville First Baptist Church was organized October 13, 1886 with 44 charter members. The church called Rev. W.M. Coile as their first pastor. Rev. Coile served the church for 55 years.
The first building was dedicated debt-free in 1888. The lot was given by Rev. Coile. All the wooden framing was given by Mary Emma Coile, wife of the pastor. The members cut the logs out of the "old field" pines and hauled them to the saw mill. Almost all the work was free labor. W.K. Tuck gave the church bell, which is still in the steeple today.
In 1940 six new Sunday School rooms were added. By 1953 the church had grown to a membership of 483. A new building was dedicated on June 28, 1953. The church continued to grow, and on February 19, 1976, services were held dedicating the new Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.
In 1986, the Noah Davis Christian Life Center was completed. In August 1999, the church dedicated a new preschool and children's building and the renovation of the Fellowship Hall. In 2001, the church purchased 3 acres of the joining Winter Property. In 2008, the church constructed a new entrance from Main Street and additional parking.
The church continues to grow. We hope you choose to become a part of our growing church family...you will find friends for life at Winterville First Baptist!
