A common space to explore a more peaceful world.
The Woodstock Peace Festival is the brainchild of an inspired group of Woodstock residents committed to leveraging the existing brand equity of Woodstock for the purpose of forwarding the cause of peace. Already known worldwide as the “poster child” for possibility and peace, Woodstock is perfectly poised to play a much more significant, global role. Our intention is to produce a multi-generational, interdenominational event, in conjunction with the UN-designated International Day of Peace – a joyful, holistic gathering bringing together multiple Woodstock constituencies to celebrate and amplify the message that peace is not only possible, but essential for people to focus on during these extremely challenging times.
The Festival will kick-off with a ceremony on September 21, 2015, featuring the youth of Woodstock, followed by an evening of “PeaceTalks” on September 25th, and commence with a full-day festival on September 27th, featuring a variety of activities for all ages, including speakers, workshops, yoga, meditation, healing arts, musical performances, and community discussions. A percentage of the revenue generated from the Festival will seed the launch of The Woodstock Peace Center, an international peace education program that will bring young peace activists from areas of conflict around the world to Woodstock on a yearly basis.
The Woodstock Peace Festival is designed to be a highly sustainable and scalable venture. One of the primary deliverables of the effort will be the creation of "The Woodstock Formula," a create-your-own-peace-festival guide - a template that will include all the necessary tutorials and instructions to enable other communities around the world to produce their own festivals of peace.
The Mission of the Woodstock Peace Festival is to create a common space to explore a more peaceful world through Art, Spirit, and Intellect.
