The Wudang sword, more famously known as the "Wu-Tang Sword style", is considered to be one of the most prestigious and mysterious art forms in all of the world. Deeply rooted in ancient Daoist beliefs, traveling priests once carried swords used for spiritual ceremonies such as the exorcisms of demons and evil spirits. After countless encounters with merciless bandits those same methods were applied as a last measure resort in efforts to thwart all who would pose a threat to ones life, resulting in a martial approach both beautiful and deadly.

Taiji-Fencing and the RLSL

Taiji fencing is a light contact combat sport that combines the martial practice of the sword with a fun and competitive atmosphere, in a similar fashion to Kendo and western fencing. Fighters are equipped with wooden swords (mu-jian) and engage in one-on-one duels with their fellow Swordsmen, and although most forms of strikes and grappling techniques are legal, the display of control and precision is king.

The Rivers and Lakes Sword League (RLSL) is an organization made up of registered swordsman and schools who compete within the Taiji-Fencing system.

Both of these practices are now available at the Sukisha-Bujinkan Dojo in the Morgantown/Fairmont area of north-central West Virginia by Instructor-Swordsman Ryan Hoffman.
