The WHSC was created in 2006 to bring together organizations and individuals in response to the Mayor’s Initiative to end homelessness and to address the complex needs of homelessness in Wyandotte County.
WHSC is a 501 (c) 3 organization.
This organization is made up of a Board of Directors. Additionally funding has been secured to hire a coordinator to oversee the various activities of the organization and to help with fundraising, planning, and all Continuum of Care responsibilities.
WHSC provides a member service directory to its members yearly. WHSC puts out the State of homelessness in Wyandotte County each year. WHSC is the Continuum of Care which receives $1.2 million in HUD funds for homelessness each year. THE WHSC coordinates the Point In Time Count for counting the Wyandotte County Homeless each year, as required by HUD. WHSC participates in National Homeless Awareness Week each year with PJ Day in KCK. In 2013 there will be many new things to come for the WHSC!
