The Wythe County Humane Society is a "no-kill" shelterless humane society made up of a group of volunteers that provide care for the animals that come to the Wythe County Humane Society.
Our organization is very focused on spaying and neutering and on saving as many animals as we can from the Wythe County Dog Shelter and Wythe County strays. We also occasionally will help other area kill shelters when the need arises, but our first priority is Wythe County. All animals that come to the Wythe County Humane Society are either adopted into loving, stable homes or are transferred to other no kill rescues where these animals can go on to find loving homes. Adopters go through a thorough screening process which may include a written application and a home visit.
Wythe and Bland Counties have a very high number of homeless animals, therefore we are very focused on promoting spaying and neutering to prevent so many more animals from losing their lives in area kill shelters. We do offer some spay and neuter assistance to Wythe County residence.
