Yankton County Search and Rescue is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. YCSAR works under the direction of Yankton County Emergency Management.

The YCSAR team is made up of a group of dedicated volunteers who have come together in an effort to create a safer community. The team has taken a number of specialized public safety courses which help them perform their duties to the best of their abilities. The team consists of paramedics, EMT's, emergency medical responders, search and rescue canines, public safety divers and certified rope technicians ready to respond to any and all emergencies 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.

In addition to our emergency response capabilities YCSAR is committed to volunteering time to the community of Yankton and the surrounding areas in a number of different ways. The YCSAR team helps various community organizations with event safety and security throughout the year. Some of these include:

- River Clean-Up
- 4th of July River Security
- Yankton Polar Plunge Water Safety
- Boy Scout Emergency Preparedness Training
- Yankton County Local Emergency Planning Committee
- Yankton Scramblers Emergency Response
- Yankton County Community Emergency Response Team
