The Yonkers Office of Emergency Management is part of the Yonkers Police Department.
Since 1979, with the establishment of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Civil Defense has become known as Emergency Management. The concept for handling all disasters, both natural and man-made and their consequences is called Comprehensive Emergency Management. The goal of Emergency Management is to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect property and the environment if an emergency occurs.
