The Lions of Illinois is a non-profit charitable organization and the means used by your Lions Club to provide statewide services for the blind and deaf.
Our foundation was founded July 1, 1974, is registered with the office of the Illinois Attorney General, and qualifies as a tax-exempt organization.
All programs are approved by Lions at the annual membership meeting in May. The Foundation is governed by a 24 member Board of Trustees of which 2 are Lions District Trustees elected from each sub-district of MD-1.
The Foundation is devoted to the highest Lions ideals of service to those with vision or hearing impairments.
Through the Foundation, your community and club benefit from these services:
Camp Lions for Children, Camp Lions for Adults, Lions Low Vision Clinic Jacksonville, Lions of Illinois Statewide Comprehensive Low Vision Evaluation Clinics, Diabetic Eye Clinic, Mobile Diabetic Eye Clinic, Mobile Hearing Services Unit, Infant Heraing Aid Bank, Used Eyeglasses/Hearing Aid Collection, Social Services and Referral, and Lions Of Illinois Funds for Emergency (L.I.F.E.)
Your Foundation also awards grants to non-Lion service agencies.
Our clubs are funded mainly by club contributions from Candy Day, Sight and Sound Sweepstakes, Tootsie Pop Day, personal and corporate contributions.
