Zion Temple COGIC - (618) 687-9209

"A Small Town Church with a Global Outlook"

Zion Temple, formally known as Murphysboro Church of God in Christ, was founded in the year of 1919, by Elder Jeffery and Mother Mattie Vick. Under their leadership, many souls were saved and many miracles were witnessed. After Elder Vick's passing, Bishop Eleazar Lenox appointed Elder W.M. Miller as pastor in May of 1963. Pastor Miller immediately began the physical restoration of the sanctuary, as well as the spiritual restoration of the Saints.

Inspired by the Holy Ghost, Pastor Miller changed the church’s name to “Zion Temple “in 1969. Upon his death, Bishop John I. Cobb appointed Elder Stephen Robinson, Sr. as pastor, in 1996. Pastor Robinson, a holy man, full of power and faith, served Zion Temple faithfully, for many years. He continues to serve as Pastor Emeritus, under the leadership of his son, Pastor Stephen M. Robinson, Jr.

Pastor Stephen M. Robinson, Jr. was appointed as Senior Pastor, by Bishop E. R. Patterson II, in March of 2014. ”Pastor Stevie”, an anointed, visionary leader, is committed to leading this great ministry, full of such rich heritage, with the same power, dignity and effectiveness, as did his predecessors.
